Yoga In Schools
Melanin Yoga Project aims to provide weekly mindfulness and yoga classes in schools that have been identified as serving low socioeconomic status families. In addition to addressing the students, we aim to provide professional development services for teachers as well.
Melanin Yoga Project aims to provide weekly free mindfulness and yoga classes in community centers, shelters, and at public parks in the Houston area. Our desire is to create positive relationships in underserved communities to educate individuals on the benefits of a regular yoga practice. As a community-oriented organization, we additionally aim to provide a space and platform for minority yoga teachers, educators, and health practitioners to share with the community.
Current partnerships: 100 Black Men , Project Row Houses, Shape Community Center, Hines Center for Spirituality, Community Art's Collective, Gustavia Pearls Women's Outreach, Buckner Family Center, Texas Southern University, and Settegast Heights Community Center
Education & Development
Melanin Yoga Project is comprised of yoga teachers, yoga teacher trainers, mentors, entrepreneurs, and motivators to connect, educate and inspire people in underserved communities. We offer yoga classes, educational workshops, service, day retreats, international retreats, and 200 Hour & 300 Hour yoga teacher training.
